Am Montag sind wir in die neue Wohnung eingezogen. Wow, das war ganz schön stressig, aber am Ende ist alles gut gegangen. Wir haben ein Bett, einen Tisch, einen Kühlschrank, etc.. Die Wohnung und die Überbauung gefallen uns sehr. Wir wohnen super zentral in einem lebendigen Quartier mit vielen Restaurants, Läden und grad gegenüber von einem grossen Einkaufszentrum. Der Preis, den wir für diese Lage zahlen, ist der Lärm. Unter uns – wir wohnen im 17. Stock – ist eine grosse Strasse mit Kreuzung. In Indien ist das noch lauter als anderswo, weil andauernd gehupt wird. Ausserdem hören wir den Muezzin (über Lautsprecher) mehrmals am Tag, was mir recht gut gefällt. Allerdings beginnt er jeden Morgen um 5:30, eine Zeit nach der ich nicht immer wieder einschlafe. Heute Nacht hat er mich nicht geweckt 🙌 und ich habe gut geschlafen. Ich verbringe im Moment sehr viel Zeit in der Wohnung, weil dauernd etwas geliefert wird. Wenn ein Gerät kommt, wird es nicht ausgepackt. Das ist dann die Aufgabe des Technikers vom Gerätehersteller, der normalerweise später am selben Tag kommt. Dieser packt das Gerät (zum Beispiel den Kühlschrank) aus, installiert es und gibt mir eine Einführung, wie alles funktioniert. Das war beim Kühlschrank natürlich essenziell 😉. Bei der Waschmaschine war alles etwas komplizierter. Der Installateur ist gekommen und hat gesehen, dass kein Wasserhahn angeschlossen ist, d.h. der Wasseranschluss war da, aber ohne Hahn. Also musste der Sanitär gerufen werden. Der ist dann wirklich ca. 20 Minuten später aufgetaucht (es ist immer ein Sanitär in der Überbauung, 7/24) und hat mir gesagt, dass er einen Wasserhahn kaufen muss. Der Waschmaschinen-Techniker hat dann gemeint, es sei eh Mittagszeit, er gehe essen und inzwischen könne der Sanitär den Hahn installieren. Gesagt getan. Nach ein-zwei Stunden war alles gemacht. Kleiner Zusatz zur Geschichte: da wir immer noch kein Bankkonto haben (ja, das ist wirklich mühsam 🙄), müssen wir solche Ausgaben bar bezahlen. Der Sanitär hat den Wasserhahn gekauft, ich hatte den genauen Betrag nicht und er kein Rückgeld. Er hat dann einfach das genommen, was ich hatte, und mir die restlichen ca. 150 Rupien geschenkt. Diese Grosszügigkeit habe ich hier schon mehrmals erlebt ♥️. We moved into our new flat on Monday. Wow, that was pretty stressful, but everything went well in the end. We have a bed, a table, a fridge, etc.. We really like the flat and the "gated community". We live very centrally in a lively neighbourhood with lots of restaurants, shops and just opposite a large shopping centre. The price we pay for this location is the noise. Below us - we live on the 17th floor - is a large road with a junction. It's even louder in India than anywhere else because people are constantly honking their horns. We also hear the muezzin (via loudspeakers) several times a day, which actually I like. However, he starts every morning at 5.30 a.m., a time after which I don't always fall asleep again. Tonight he didn't wake me up 🙌 and I slept well. I'm spending a lot of time in the flat at the moment because something is constantly being delivered. When an appliance arrives, it's not unpacked. That's the job of the technician from the appliance manufacturer who is typically coming later on the same day. He unpacks the appliance (for example the fridge), installs it and gives me an introduction to how everything works. That was essential with the fridge, of course 😉. Everything was a bit more complicated with the washing machine. The plumber came and saw that there was no tap connected, i.e. the water connection was there, but without a tap. So the plumber had to be called. He actually turned up about 20 minutes later (there is always a plumber in the community, 7/24) and told me that he would have to buy a tap. The washing machine technician then said it was lunchtime anyway, he was going to eat and the plumber could install the tap in the meantime. No sooner said than done. After an hour or two, everything was done. A small addition to the story: as we still don't have a bank account (yes, it's really tedious 🙄), we have to pay such expenses in cash. The plumber bought the tap, I didn't have the exact amount and he didn't have any change. He then simply took what I had and said it's okay. There were approximately 150 rupees less than what I owed him. I have already experienced this generosity here several times ♥️.  Lundi, nous avons emménagé dans notre nouvel appartement. Ohlala, c'était assez stressant, mais finalement, tout s'est bien passé. Nous avons un lit, une table, un réfrigérateur, etc. L'appartement et le lotissement nous plaisent beaucoup. Nous habitons au centre d'un quartier vivant avec beaucoup de restaurants, de magasins et juste en face d'un grand centre commercial. Le prix que nous payons pour cette situation est le bruit. En dessous de nous - nous habitons au 17e étage - il y a une grande rue avec un carrefour. En Inde, c'est encore plus bruyant qu'ailleurs, car on klaxonne sans cesse. En outre, nous entendons le muezzin (par haut-parleur) plusieurs fois par jour, ce que j'aime bien. Cependant, il commence chaque matin à 5h30, une heure après laquelle je ne m'endors pas toujours. Cette nuit, il ne m'a pas réveillée 🙌 et j'ai bien dormi. Je passe beaucoup de temps à l'appartement en ce moment, car on me livre sans cesse quelque chose. Quand un appareil arrive, il n'est pas déballé. C'est alors le travail du technicien du fabricant de l'appareil qui vient en général le même jour. Celui-ci déballe l'appareil (par exemple le réfrigérateur), l'installe et me donne une introduction sur le fonctionnement de l'appareil. Pour le frigo, c'était évidemment essentiel 😉. Pour la machine à laver, les choses ont été un peu plus compliquées. Le plombier est venu et a vu qu'il n'y avait pas de robinet n'était raccordé, c'est-à-dire que l'arrivée d'eau était là, mais sans robinet. Il a donc fallu appeler le plombier. Celui-ci s'est vraiment présenté environ 20 minutes plus tard (il y a toujours un plombier dans le lotissement, 7/24) et m'a dit qu'il devait acheter un robinet. Le technicien de la machine à laver a alors dit qu'il était de toute façon l'heure du déjeuner, qu'il allait manger et qu'entre-temps le plombier pourrait installer le robinet. Aussitôt dit, aussitôt fait. Au bout d'une heure ou deux, tout était fait. Petit ajout à l'histoire : comme nous n'avons toujours pas de compte bancaire (oui, c'est vraiment pénible 🙄), nous devons payer ce genre de dépenses en liquide. Le plombier a acheté le robinet, je n'avais pas le montant exact et lui n'avait pas de monnaie. Il a alors simplement pris ce que j'avais et m'a fait cadeau des quelque 150 roupies restantes. J'ai déjà fait l'expérience de cette générosité à plusieurs reprises ici ♥️.

Die liebe Administration 🥹: Wir wissen noch nicht, wann wir in die Wohnung einziehen können; es braucht noch mehr Administration und Geduld. Allerdings hoffen wir immer noch, dass es nächste Woche, also in der ersten Dezemberwoche, klappt 🤞. Bankkonto haben wir auch immer noch keins, weil der Anmeldeprozess noch nicht beendet ist. Naja, wird schon alles noch kommen ☺️. Spannender sind wohl weitere Beobachtungen zu Ungewohntem. Zum Glück mache ich Notizen; Alltägliches wird sehr schnell zu Gewohntem. Die Schalter: das Foto zeigt die Schalter neben unserer Eingangstür. Es gibt einen Schalter (neben dem Rad) für den Ventilator, alle anderen sind für Licht: wir haben sehr helles oder auch warmes Licht, eine Dekoration mit tanzenden Göttinnen (ich nehme jedenfalls an, dass es Göttinnen sind). Also ja, wir haben sehr viele Lampen mit unterschiedlichem Licht. Das ist auch gut so, weil gerade der Raum beim Eingang, nämlich das Wohnzimmer, sehr dunkel ist. Die Herausforderung ist, den richtigen Schalter zu finden 😅! Wasser bei den Toiletten: Jede Toilette, die ich in Indien bisher gesehen habe, hat Wasser nebendran. Meistens ist es ein Duschkopf, wie auch dem Foto. Wenn es weniger "elegant" ist, gibt es Plastikkessel, die frau/man benützen kann. Papier gibt es nicht überall. V.a. als Frau gehört es zur Grundausstattung, Feuchttücher dabei zu haben. "No common walls": Es wird hier oft so gebaut, dass möglichst wenig Wände mit den Nachbar*innen geteilt werden. So gibt es wie Einbuchtungen (Gänge) zwischen den Wohnungen. Das mittlere Foto zeigt übrigens das Fenster unseres dunklen Wohnzimmers. Ich weiss nicht so recht, was ich davon halten soll: einerseits ist es natürlich gut, weniger Lärm von der Nachbarwohnung zu haben, und so haben wir mehr Fenster. Ohne den "Gang" müssten die Zimmer anders geplant werden. Wir hätten nämlich gar keine Fenster auf diese Seite. Andererseits verliert man viel Platz und der Raum hat trotz Fenster wenig Licht. Mein Anhängsel: die neue Wohnung wird hell sein. Mehr darüber, wenn wir dann wirklich (endlich) dort sind). Administration 🥹: We still don't know when we'll be able to move into the flat; it still needs more administration and patience. However, we are still hoping that it will work out next week, i.e. in the first week of December 🤞. We still don't have a bank account because the registration process hasn't been finalised yet. Well, everything will come in time ☺️. Other observations of the unfamiliar are probably more exciting. Fortunately, I take notes; everyday things very quickly become familiar. The switches: the photo shows the switches next to our front door. There is one switch (next to the wheel) for the fan, all the others are for light: we have very bright or warm light, a decoration with dancing goddesses (I assume they are goddesses). So yes, we have a lot of lamps with different light. That's a good thing because the room by the entrance, the living room, is very dark. The challenge is to find the right switch 😅! Water by the toilets: Every toilet I have seen in India so far has water next to it. Usually it is a shower head, as in the photo. If it is less ‘elegant’, there are plastic kettles that you can use. Paper is not available everywhere. Especially as a woman, it is a basic requirement to have wet wipes with you. ‘No common walls’: The apartments are often built in such a way that as few walls as possible are shared with the neighbours. So there are indentations (corridors) between the flats. By the way, the middle photo shows the window of our dark living room. I don't really know what to make of it: on the one hand, of course, it's good to have less noise from the neighbouring flat, and like that we have more windows. Without the ‘corridor’, the rooms would have to be planned differently. We wouldn't have any windows on this side. On the other hand, you lose a lot of space and the room has little light despite the windows. My appendage: the new flat will be bright. More about that when we're actually (finally) there).  La chère administration 🥹 : nous ne savons pas encore quand nous pourrons emménager dans l'appartement ; il faut encore plus d'administration et de patience. Cependant, nous espérons toujours que cela se fera la semaine prochaine, c'est-à-dire la première semaine de décembre 🤞. Nous n'avons toujours pas de compte bancaire non plus, car le processus d'inscription n'est pas encore terminé. Eh bien, tout finira par arriver ☺️. Les observations sur ce qui n'est pas habituel sont plus intéressantes. Heureusement, je prends des notes ; on s'habitue très vite au quotidien. Les interrupteurs : la photo montre les interrupteurs à côté de notre porte d'entrée. Il y a un interrupteur (à côté de la roue) pour le ventilateur, tous les autres sont pour la lumière : nous avons des lumières très claires ou plutôt chaudes, une décoration avec des déesses qui dansent (en tout cas, je suppose que ce sont des déesses). Donc oui, nous avons beaucoup de lampes avec des lumières différentes. C'est une bonne chose, car la pièce près de l'entrée, à savoir le salon, est très sombre. Le défi est de trouver le bon interrupteur 😅 ! L'eau près des toilettes : toutes les toilettes que j'ai vues jusqu'à présent en Inde ont de l'eau à côté. La plupart du temps, il s'agit d'un pommeau de douche, comme sur la photo. Si c'est moins « élégant », il y a des seaux en plastique que l'on peut utiliser. Il n'y a pas de papier partout. En tant que femme, il est indispensable d'avoir des lingettes humides à portée de main. « No common walls » : ici, on construit souvent de manière à ce que le moins de murs possible soient partagés avec les voisins. Ainsi, il y a comme des renfoncements (couloirs) entre les appartements. La photo du milieu montre d'ailleurs la fenêtre de notre salon sombre. Je ne sais pas vraiment qu'en penser : d'un côté, c'est évidemment bien d'avoir moins de bruit de l'appartement voisin, et nous avons ainsi plus de fenêtres. Sans le « couloir », les chambres devraient être planifiées différemment. Nous n'aurions en effet aucune fenêtre de ce côté. D'autre part, on perd beaucoup de place et la pièce n'est pas très lumineuse malgré les fenêtres. Mon appendice : le nouvel appartement sera lumineux. J'en dirai plus quand nous y serons (enfin).
Das Wichtigste (für uns zumindest) gleich zu Beginn: es sieht gut aus, dass wir eine tolle Wohnung auf 1. Dezember beziehen können. Das freut uns natürlich sehr. Es ist Zeit, dass ich ein damit anfange, das zu notieren, was hier anders ist. Die Apotheke: Es gibt natürlich unterschiedliche Apotheken, auch solche, bei denen man in den Raum hineingeht. Ich habe aber letzthin bei einer eingekauft, die eigentlich wie ein Zimmer mit einer Theke vorne dran ist. Man geht also gar nicht in die Apotheke, sondern sagt vom Gehsteig aus, was man haben möchte. Was ich genial finde ist, dass man genau so viel Medikamente kaufen kann, wie man möchte / braucht. Ich hatte eine Erkältung und habe dem Apotheker erklärt, dass ich etwas brauche, das bei uns Solmucol heisst. Er hat sofort gewusst, was ich meine und hat mir 6 Tabletten mitgegeben; für 3 Tage, jeweils morgens und abends. Auch Aspirin kann man einzeln nehmen. Das ist etwas, was mich in der Schweiz immer ärgert: ich kaufe eine Packung eines Medikaments und muss meistens mehr als die Hälfte irgendwann entsorgen, weil das Ablaufdatum längst vorüber ist. Die Wäsche: Wir haben hier eine Waschmaschine auf dem Balkon. Das ist normal, es wird ja nie richtig kalt. Bei dieser Maschine kann ich die Menge Wasser bestimmen; mehr nicht. Das heisst, sie wäscht immer mit derselben Temperatur, schleudert immer gleich (kräftig, übrigens), usw.. Bei der Wassertemperatur habe ich beim dritten Mal waschen gemerkt, dass sie gar nicht heizt. Wir waschen also immer mit kaltem, bzw. lauwarmen Wasser; einfach mit der Temperatur, die aus dem Wasserhahn kommt. Jetzt habe ich einen Fleckenspray gekauft 😂.
The most important thing (for us at least) right at the beginning: it looks good that we will be able to move into a great flat on 1 December. Of course we are very happy about that. It's time for me to start noting what's different here. The pharmacy: There are of course different pharmacies, including ones where you walk into the room. However, I recently shopped at one that is actually like a room with a counter at the front. So you don't go into the pharmacy at all, but say what you want from the pavement. What I find brilliant is that you can buy as much medication as you want/need. I had a cold and explained to the pharmacist that I needed something called Solmucol. He immediately knew what I meant and gave me 6 tablets to take for 3 days, morning and evening. Aspirin can also be taken individually. That's something that always annoys me in Switzerland: I buy a pack of a medicine and usually have to dispose of more than half of it at some point because the expiry date has long since passed.
For hanging up the washing, there is a great system: rods that are attached to cords. The cords have knots so that you can attach the rods at different heights. As the rooms are quite high - and so is the balcony - you can hang the washing on the rods and then simply pull them up. This makes it easy to walk through below. At the moment, the washing takes about five hours to dry. In any case, we need very little energy to do the laundry here 👍 and I've always had the feeling that it's fresh after washing, despite the lukewarm water. Le plus important (pour nous du moins) au début : il semble que nous puissions emménager dans un super appartement le 1er décembre. Cela nous fait évidemment très plaisir. Il est temps que je commence à noter ce qui est différent ici. La pharmacie : Il y a bien sûr différentes pharmacies, y compris celles où l'on entre. Cependant, dernièrement j'ai fait mes achats dans une pharmacie qui est en fait une chambre avec un comptoir devant. On n'entre donc pas du tout dans la pharmacie, mais on dit depuis le trottoir ce que l'on veut. Ce que je trouve génial, c'est que l'on peut acheter autant de médicaments que l'on veut / dont on a besoin. J'ai eu un rhume et j'ai expliqué au pharmacien que j'avais besoin de quelque chose qui s'appelle Solmucol chez nous. Il a tout de suite compris ce que je voulais et m'a donné 6 comprimés pour 3 jours, matin et soir. On peut aussi prendre de l'aspirine à l'unité. C'est quelque chose qui m'énerve en Suisse : j'achète un paquet de médicament et je dois généralement en jeter plus de la moitié parce que la date de péremption est passée depuis longtemps. La lessive : Nous avons ici une machine à laver sur le balcon. C'est normal, il ne fait jamais vraiment froid. Avec cette machine, je peux déterminer la quantité d'eau ; rien de plus. Cela signifie qu'elle lave toujours à la même température, qu'elle essore toujours de la même manière (vigoureusement, d'ailleurs), etc. En ce qui concerne la température de l'eau, j'ai remarqué à la troisième lessive qu'elle ne chauffe pas du tout. Nous lavons donc toujours à l'eau froide ou tiède ; simplement à la température qui sort du robinet. Du coup, j'ai acheté un spray détachant 😂. Pour suspendre le linge, il existe un super système : des barres fixées à des cordons. Les cordes ont des nœuds, ce qui permet de fixer les barres à différentes hauteurs. Comme les pièces sont assez hautes - et le balcon aussi - on peut suspendre le linge sur les barres et les remonter. On peut ainsi passer facilement par dessous. Le linge met environ cinq heures à sécher.
En tout cas, nous utilisons ici assez peu d'énergie pour la lessive 👍 et jusqu'à présent, j'ai toujours eu l'impression qu'elle était fraîche après le lavage, malgré l'eau tiède. Obwohl ich schon letzte Woche dreimal im Büro war, im Wesentlichen, um meinen neuen Laptop und meine Mobilnummer zu bekommen, war dieser Montag mein offizieller Start. Im Gegensatz zu meinen bisherigen Besuchen wurde ich natürlich nicht speziell angekündigt, aber das war gar kein Problem. Es war wirklich schön, dass so viele Kolleginnen und Kollegen vorbeigekommen sind, um mich zu begrüßen. Es gibt so viele neue Gesichter und Namen, die ich mir noch nicht alle merken kann. Ich beginne eher früh, d. h. bin etwas vor 9 Uhr im Büro, um schon einmal einen guten Start in den Tag zu haben. Die meisten kommen erst später, weil wir alle abends noch Calls mit Europa oder sogar Amerika haben. Ich fand den Tipp von V. wirklich super, einfach während der Züricher Mittagszeit nach Hause zu fahren und die anderen Calls von dort zu machen. Die ersten drei Tage habe ich das so gemacht und es hat wirklich gut geklappt.  Da wir immer noch kein Bankkonto haben, können wir bedauerlicherweise keine der lokalen Bezahl-Apps, ähnlich wie Twint, benutzen. Leider kann ich die App, um mein Mittagessen im Food Court zu bestellen, auch nicht benutzen. Ich freue mich sehr, dass mich V. am Dienstag und S. am Mittwoch eingeladen haben und werde mich gerne revanchieren. Am Donnerstag gönne ich mir etwas in einem Café, das meine Kreditkarte akzeptiert, und genieße es, es draußen zu essen, mit Blick auf eine riesige Leinwand, die mitten auf dem Campus steht. Am Freitag habe ich mir etwas Leckeres, das Isa gekocht hat, von zu Hause mitgebracht. Meine Tiffin-Behälter sind nicht klassisch, aber wir können sie auch zum Aufbewahren benutzen, wenn wir möchten. Ich denke, ich werde mir noch ein richtiges Tiffin-Set kaufen. Wir haben zwei Besucher aus Zürich und ich konnte mich ihnen anschliessen, um die neuen Büros zu besuchen. Das Gebäude ist fertiggestellt und verfügt über Kantinen sowie andere Büros. "Unsere" Etage befindet sich jedoch noch im Rohbau. Ich freue mich schon sehr darauf, im nächsten Juni in die neuen Büroräumlichkeiten umzuziehen, die bis dahin fertiggestellt werden sollen. Das neue Gebäude ist gleich über die Straße, so bleibt der Arbeitsweg gleich und ich muss mich nicht umgewöhnen. Although I had already been to the office three times last week, mainly to get my new laptop and mobile number, this Monday was my official start. Unlike my previous visits, of course, I wasn't specifically announced, but that wasn't a problem at all. It was really nice that so many colleagues came round to welcome me. There are so many new faces and names that I still can't remember them all. I tend to start early, i.e. I'm in the office a little before 9 a.m. to get the day off to a good start. Most people come in later because we all have calls with Europe or even America in the evening. I thought V.'s tip of simply travelling home during lunchtime in Zurich and making the other calls from there was really great. I did this for the first three days and it worked really well. Unfortunately, as we still don't have a bank account, we can't use any of the local payment apps similar to Twint. Unfortunately, I can't use the app to order my lunch at the food court either. I'm very pleased that V. invited me on Tuesday and S. on Wednesday and will be happy to return the favour. On Thursday, I treat myself to something at a café that accepts my credit card and enjoy eating it outside, overlooking a giant screen that sits in the middle of campus. On Friday, I brought myself something delicious that Isa cooked from home. My tiffin containers aren't vintage, but we can use them for storage if we want. I think I'm going to buy a proper tiffin set.  We have two visitors from Zurich and I was able to join them to visit the new offices. The building is finished and has canteens and other offices. However, ‘our’ floor is still under construction. I'm really looking forward to moving into the new offices next June, which should be finished by then. The new building is just across the road, so the commute will be the same and I won't have to get used to it. Bien que je me sois déjà rendue trois fois au bureau la semaine dernière, essentiellement pour obtenir mon nouvel ordinateur et mon numéro de téléphone portable, ce lundi était mon début officiel. Contrairement à mes visites précédentes, je n'ai bien sûr pas été spécialement annoncée, mais cela n'a pas posé de problème. C'était vraiment sympa de voir autant de collègues passer pour me saluer. Il y a tant de nouveaux visages et de noms que je ne peux pas encore les tous retenir. Je commence plutôt tôt, c'est-à-dire que je suis au bureau un peu avant 9 heures, pour déjà bien commencer la journée. La plupart d'entre nous arrivent plus tard, car nous avons tous des appels le soir avec l'Europe ou même l'Amérique. J'ai trouvé le conseil de V. vraiment super, de simplement rentrer à la maison pendant l'heure du déjeuner à Zurich et de faire les autres appels de là. C'est ce que j'ai fait les trois premiers jours et ça a vraiment bien fonctionné. Comme nous n'avons toujours pas de compte bancaire, nous ne pouvons malheureusement pas utiliser les applications de paiement locales, similaires à Twint. Malheureusement, je ne peux pas non plus utiliser l'application pour commander mon déjeuner au Food Court. Je suis très heureux que V. m'ait invité mardi et S. mercredi et je leur rendrai volontiers la pareille. Jeudi, je m'offre quelque chose dans un café qui accepte ma carte de crédit et j'apprécie de le manger dehors, avec vue sur un écran géant installé au milieu du campus. Vendredi, j'ai amené de la maison quelque chose de délicieux qu'Isa avait cuisiné. Mes récipients "tiffins" ne sont pas classiques, mais nous pouvons aussi les utiliser pour garder de la nourriture si nous le souhaitons. Je pense que je vais encore acheter un vrai set de tiffins.  Donnerstagabends sitzen wir beide am gleichen Ort Nous avons deux visiteurs de Zurich et j'ai pu me joindre à eux pour visiter les nouveaux bureaux. Le bâtiment est terminé et dispose de cantines ainsi que d'autres bureaux. Toutefois, « notre » étage est encore en cours de construction. J'ai hâte de déménager en juin prochain dans les nouveaux bureaux qui devraient être terminés d'ici là. Le nouveau bâtiment est juste de l'autre côté de la rue, donc le trajet pour aller travailler reste le même et je n'ai pas à changer d'habitude.
